This month’s Beer of the Month belongs to Monk’s Cafe Flemish Sour Ale. After a long wheat and hefeweizen kick, I’m now going through a sour phase. I was having a hard time finding a sour to pick up and then ran into this beer. I did a quick Beer Advocate search and it looked good enough for me to grab. The beer poured nicely, lacked head, and had a cherry and acid-y aroma. I regretted only picking up one after the first sip. Very refreshing beer with strong cherry notes and had the sour after taste that I’ve been craving lately but nothing over powering. Definitely a sour I would recommend for someone who hasn’t tried this style yet.
Beer Advocate Score: 86
Style: Flanders Oud Bruin (brown sour ale)
