I know it’s a little late in the month but I’ve had some bad luck choosing some beers for this month’s entry. Last week I finally found a winner, the Goose Island Pepe Nero. This saison style ale has a dark mahogany color with a crisp aroma of roasted malts and spices. The pour will leave a huge head and although it’s a dark saison, it’s fitting for all seasons. Very smooth and enjoyable with a lot more flavor than I expected. It’s kind of hard to put a finger on the taste, but the best way I can think of is a malty, fresh spice.
